As every year, the English teaching programme of Universidad Mayor held its English week at the end of October. We had the pleasure of presenting WriteBetter to a large audience of English professors and students. Many of the attendees showed interest in our incredible writing tool. For this reason, we were asked to do a workshop to use the software with a group of students in the writing class.
The talk given by Daniela Bascuñán – founder of WriteBetter – consisted of a theoretical explanation of the linguistic foundations behind WriteBetter: specifically, Data-driven learning (DDL) and, broadly speaking, corpus linguistics. Then, Daniela explained in detail and in a didactic way the use of the software and the possible pedagogical uses that students and teachers of English could give it.
We are happy to update students and teachers of English on approaches to language teaching. Our task is also to educate and encourage the use of technology in the classroom.
